2010 NBDPN
Annual Meeting
Gaylord National Convention Center
National Harbor, Maryland (Washington DC area)
The National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN) will hold its 13th Annual Meeting at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland from March 8-10, 2010. This meeting will be co-located with the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) Annual Meeting. Plenary and breakout sessions are scheduled to appeal to a diverse audience and cover birth defects surveillance, research, and prevention issues. Featured sessions include:
- Skeletal Defects, such as hip dysplasia, clubfoot, skeletal dysplasias, and anomalies of ribs, sternum, spine, and limbs
- Science of folic acid
- Research agenda of the National Birth Defects Prevention Study
- Emerging issues in birth defects including sessions focusing on diabetes and H1N1
- Electronic medical records and birth defects surveillance
- Innovative uses of birth defects surveillance infrastructure to capture other outcomes such as stillbirth, long-term follow-up for confirmed newborn screening cases, and autism
Also on the agenda are sessions designed to encourage information sharing and networking, such as poster presentations and exhibits. An interactive record linkage pre-conference workshop will be offered on March 7, 2010.

Hotel Reservation: A block of rooms at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center has been reserved at $204/night plus taxes (16%). The resort fee has been waived, but you’ll still receive the amenities, which include: daily newspaper, two bottles of water, use of Fitness Center, in-room high-speed Internet access, and complimentary local and toll-free calls (up to 20 minutes).

NBDPN Annual Meeting Silent Auction Returns!
Start gathering or making things to represent your state or program or to show off your artistic talents, and get ready to outbid one another in Maryland! Last year's auction included live lobsters from Maine; Memory Plates from Venice, Rome, and Milan; gumbo dinner for 8; cheese from Wisconsin; Utah’s St. Provo Girl beer and T-shirt; vacation getaways to the Georgia Mountains, South Puget Sound, and Nashville; Michigania Extravaganza Basket of goodies; Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XLIII Goodie Basket; Cowboy Care Package; and handmade items from several of our members.
Contributions to the Silent Auction are tax deductible. Items that are easily transported may be brought to the meeting; other items may be represented with a photograph or description and shipped directly to the winner after the meeting.
